My Unplanned Hiatus

Hello friends, long time no blog!  It’s been over 2 weeks since I last posted… it seems like forever!!  I even planned ahead for this time period by creating recipes, doing photo shoots, editing pictures, etc.  I have recipes in my laptop cookbook and a stock of beautiful photos ready to go in my Media file, for heaven’s sake!  But then… I just didn’t!!

To be honest, I was too busy living to blog.  Not to say that when I’m blogging, I’m not really living.  Not at all.  But you all know what I’m talking about.  Sometimes we interrupt life to post.  And I just didn’t want to do that these past 2 weeks.  I wanted to soak up every last minute of my time in the US, every moment with my Pa and my family, every last second of school holidays with my kids.  Because Lord knows, vacation ends too soon, my time with my Pa is over in the blink of an eye, the kids will be back in school this week, and then… then… I’ll have all the time in the world.  Whether I like it or not!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the routine and pace of my everyday life.  It has a steady rhythm, a regular routine of school, bootcamp, kids’ activities, cooking classes, family time, homework help, snuggling to bed, and yes, blogging.  But when we get a chance to take a true break, why not take it?  Time goes too fast anyway…

Just to give you a glimpse of what we’ve been doing…

Sara & her doll

Doll-making…

Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo

Rodeo-going…

Chocolate tofu nice cream with berriesBlueberry tofu nice cream

Smoothie-bowl-making… (the kids learned to use the Nutri-bullet… too much fun and we ate our weight in blueberries!)

Salmon salad with blueberries & feta

Salad-eating… (wild-caught salmon, corn, fresh blueberries & feta… try this combo!)

Birthday girl

… and birthday celebrating!!  There are soooo many other memories to cherish that I didn’t capture with pictures, simple things like sunset walks, grocery store runs, cocktails at the kitchen counter, conversations on the deck… but I’m sure you understand.

So now we’ve made the 24+ hour journey back home to Manila.  I’m actually glad for the long trip because I think it takes at least that long to make the mental transition from the carefree ability to lose track of days, back to the routine of work and school and all that makes life predictable… in the best way possible.

It’s great to be home.
